Perth offers a great number of wine events, wine dinners and 'meet the maker' events which is a fabulous way to bring together winemakers and wine lovers without having to travel extensively. We love tasting wine, especially when its paired with delicious food.

Petite Mort and Canny Grapes invited Perth's Champagne Lovers to their annual 2018 Champagne Degustation Dinner celebrating Global Champagne Day and our love for champagne. It was a luxury evening of champagne and fine dining including six selected cuvées from five champagne houses paired with five course signature grande cuisine by Todd Stuart and his team at Petite Mort.

Mazza Wines & Duende presented Perth's first Mazza Wines Dinner on 13th June 2018. Mazza Wines is a unique family run vineyard in the Ferguson Valley near Donnybrook specialising in growing Spanish & Portugese varieties. David Mazza showcased six of their best wines with a perfectly matched 3-course dinner from the hands of Duende's talented Head Chef, Warren Farrugia.

Our second edition of 'Aromatics and Thai' was also a sell out and everyone loved the culinary experience! Showing eight wines paired with an incredible five course menu, we all found new favourite wines with the top three being Champagne Veuve Fourny & Fils Grande Réserve, Eidosela Albariño and Azul y Garanza Tempranillo. Favourite dishes of the evening were the duck and barramundi followed by pork belly.

Neil Perry's favourite West Australian Asian restaurant Itsara decided was time for an ultimate Authentic Thai Dining Experience! Chef and co-wner Itsara Pracharoenwattana created an exceptional traditional Thai dinner menu while I guided our guests through eight selected aromatic wines surrounded by Itsara's tropical garden setting. This dinner was a real success with everyone asking when we are having the next one. Can't wait! Inviting 5th generation champagne grower-producer Charles-Henry Fourny of Champagne Veuve Fourny & Fils to Perth was one of my biggest events this year! Creating a Champagne dinner in collaboration with De Bortoli and Petite Mort, champagne lovers were able to discover and explore the terroir of Premier Cruises Vertus, Côte des Blancs while enjoying five course signature cuisine perfectly matching champagnes made by Charles and his brother Emmanuel.

Highly acclaimed Journey Wines owner and wine maker Damian North launched his latest addition the 2017 Heathcote Fiano at a five course dinner hosted by Juniper & Bay who created a delicious menu highlighting Damian's wines. It was a fantastic dinner, fully booked restaurant with happy wine lovers who enjoyed the wines and listening to Damian taking us on his wine journey.

My first pop-up wine tasting event and it was a great success. Winemaker and co-owner Craig Stansborough was taking us on a journey through his vineyards in the Southern Barossa tasting wines that reflect his passion and love for wine, especially his Italian varieties. Though some of the favourite wines of the night were Purple Hands Old Vine Grenache and the Mataro followed very closely by the Shiraz!

I joined Grace Farm's viticulturist Tim Quinlan and winemaker Jonathan Mettam for an exquisite Grace Farm degustation dining experience at Petite Mort . The menu was created by head chef Todd Stuart matching current and back vintages from Grace Farm's boutique wine portfolio. Check out what Casey wrote about her dining experience here. Canny Grapes joined Look Good 2 Feel Good consultant Monique Leahy from the Wesson team with a Sparkling and Champagne tasting at their Learn and Cocktail styling workshop.

The East Fremantle Festival is held every year on George street featuring live music, street food, artisan markets and participating local businesses. A fun day out for family and friends. Young George invited Grace Farm to their tasting tent where many took the opportunity to taste boutique wines from this small family owned and operated winery in the Wilyabrup, Margaret River.
