The philosophy behind Canny Grapes is to explore the World of Wine, from vine to glass, learning about wine in its many forms, connecting with place and story with focus on essence and education. Founded in 2016, independent wine consultant, wine educator and event host Anja Lewis shares her extensive wine knowledge with respect, authenticity, passion and charm, from the heart. Based in Perth, Western Australia Anja Lewis hosts public and private wine events for wine consumers, wine merchants and wine producers as well as her own Canny Grapes wine tasting classes, champagne masterclasses, wine dinners, corporate events and private functions for groups up to 150 guests.
In 2026, her 10th anniversary of Canny Grapes, Anja steps up once again, combining her expertise, knowledge and wisdom in a brand new CHAMPAGNE APPRECIATION COURSE.
Anja's holistic approach led her to becoming an invaluable consultant to the wine industry including restaurants, wine bars, liquor stores and wine producers. One of Anja’s biggest passions is Champagne! She started her own educational CG Champagne Club and partners with champagne producers as well as distributors to promote champagne here in Australia, hosting masterclasses and Champagne Dinners. Anja shares her love for Champagne in many ways including visiting Maisons and growers in Champagne, France as well as having contributed to Australia’s Champagne magazine Vine & Bubble. In 2024 Anja completed her Master of Champagne, a highly regarded certified wine education program by the Wine Scholar Guild.

The Canny Grapes Champagne Course is a result of witnessing wine enthusiasts, sommeliers, winemakers, sales reps, restaurant managers thirsty for champagne knowledge they can apply with confidence. Through delivering wine training to staff, curating over 250 CG Wine Education Classes and my own extensive travels and wine experiences around the world, this new chapter and course is designed to help understand Champagne as a place and champagne as a wine.
Champagne is not only a successful international brand and wine of choice for celebrations., champagne is much more if you look close enough, leave behind what you think you know, and allow yourself to connect with what makes champagne truly unique.
