Perth offers a great number of wine events, wine dinners and 'meet the maker' events which is a fabulous way to bring together winemakers and wine lovers without having to travel extensively.  We love tasting wine, especially when its paired with delicious food. 

Canny Grapes works in collaboration with importers, wine distributors, wineries, wine magazines, and restaurants representing Australian and International wine producers.

Anja’s 6th destinations of her 'AROUND THE WORLD IN 80 WINES' wine tasting series takes us to Germany and Austria, a new authentic wine tasting experience hosted in a wine dinner style at Juniper & Bay in Como. Blanc de Noirs Champagne Dinner, Wednesday 21st July 2021, 6.30PM Steves Nedlands

Ever since participating and becoming one of six national finalists in the 2016 Vin de Champagne Awards hosted by the Australian Champagne Bureau representing France’s Comité Champagne, Anja wanted to create a Blanc de Noirs Champagne Dinner. Together with Mirco Tarducci, Sommelier and Group Wine Manager at Steves Nedlands, Anja selected five cuvées from champagne growers Laherte Fréres, Benoît Lahaye and Voirin-Jumel as well as famous champagne house Gosset and cooperative Devaux.

Nothing is more exciting than champagne, unless we add a touch of pink, especially when it’s just in time for the quintessential month of love and romance. Perth’s champagne lovers joined Anja Lewis & Mirco Tarducci at Steves for this exquisite Rosé Champagne Dinner tasting five selected cuvées paired with an outstanding two-course menu by Giles Bailey.

We selected eight extraordinary Riesling wines from around the world and pair them with Itsara’s famous royal Thai cuisine. Tickets are available now!

ITSARA & CANNY GRAPES once again presented this ever popular event of Thai dining, indulging in five courses of Itsara’s authentic cuisine and eight wine pairings selected by Anja Lewis. Itsara’s lush garden is the perfect venue to enjoy this authentic ‘Shared Plate’ five-course menu, awaken the senses as you are transported to tropical Thailand. Enjoy your favourite dishes and some very unique plates rarely found outside of Thailand, paired with aromatic wines.


New Zealand wine dinner, wednesday 10th april 2019, 6.30pm, Petite Mort, Shenton Park

New Zealand born Head Chef and owner Todd Stuart and Anja Lewis of Canny Grapes created a unique dining experience selecting their favourite New Zealand wines to pair them in a stunning Petite Mort five course menu. Wine educator and consultant Anja guided us through the evening & wines, travelling wine regions of both islands, north & south including Central Otago, Marlborough, Martinborough and Hawkes Bay. A dining experience Perth has not seen before.

Itsara & Canny Grapes presented their 5th edition of Perth’s favourite authentic Thai dining experience, indulging in five courses of Itsara's Thai cuisine and eight selected wine pairings. Set in Itsara’s tropical garden diners experienced the magic of Thailand’s cuisine cooked by Itsara Pracharoenwattana and his outstanding team while learning about aromatic wine styles, grape varieties, wine making and how to pair wine & food.

Petite Mort and Canny Grapes invited Perth's Champagne Lovers to their annual 2018 Champagne Degustation Dinner celebrating Global Champagne Day and our love for champagne. It was a luxury evening of champagne and fine dining including six selected cuvées from five champagne houses paired with five course signature grande cuisine by Todd Stuart and his team at Petite Mort.

Mazza Wines & Duende presented Perth's first Mazza Wines Dinner on 13th June 2018. Mazza Wines is a unique family run vineyard in the Ferguson Valley near Donnybrook specialising in growing Spanish & Portugese varieties. David Mazza showcased six of their best wines with a perfectly matched 3-course dinner from the hands of Duende's talented Head Chef, Warren Farrugia.

JOHN KOSOVICH WINE DINNER, WEDNESDAY 18TH APRIL 2018, DUENDE, LEEDERVILLE

Duende Tapas Bar in Leederville and John Kosovich Wines from the Swan Valley invited Perth's wine and food lovers to join them for an ultimate wine and dine evening. Head chef Warren Farrugia created an outstanding three-course meal paired wines from Kosovich's Swan Valley and Pemberton vineyards.

Our second edition of 'Aromatics and Thai' was also a sell out and everyone loved the culinary experience! Showing eight wines paired with an incredible five course menu, we all found new favourite wines with the top three being Champagne Veuve Fourny & Fils Grande Réserve, Eidosela Albariño and Azul y Garanza Tempranillo. Favourite dishes of the evening were the duck and barramundi followed by pork belly.

Neil Perry's favourite West Australian Asian restaurant Itsara decided was time for an ultimate Authentic Thai Dining Experience! Chef and co-wner Itsara Pracharoenwattana created an exceptional traditional Thai dinner menu while I guided our guests through eight selected aromatic wines surrounded by Itsara's tropical garden setting. This dinner was a real success with everyone asking when we are having the next one. Inviting 5th generation champagne grower-producer Charles-Henry Fourny of Champagne Veuve Fourny & Fils to Perth was one of my biggest events this year! Creating a Champagne dinner in collaboration with De Bortoli and Petite Mort, champagne lovers were able to discover and explore the terroir of Premier Cruises Vertus, Côte des Blancs while enjoying five course signature cuisine perfectly matching champagnes made by Charles and his brother Emmanuel.

Highly acclaimed Journey Wines owner and wine maker Damian North launched his latest addition the 2017 Heathcote Fiano at a five course dinner hosted by Juniper & Bay who created a delicious menu highlighting Damian's wines. It was a fantastic dinner, fully booked restaurant with happy wine lovers who enjoyed the wines and listening to Damian taking us on his wine journey.

Canny Grapes was a guest host at the monthly members only 'Wine Masterclass Dinner' at The Western Australia Club. This masterclass was all about Australian Shiraz perfectly matched by the chef with delicious canapés and a five course dinner.

My first pop-up wine tasting event and it was   a great success. Winemaker and co-owner Craig Stansborough was taking us on a journey through his vineyards in the Southern Barossa tasting wines that reflect his passion and love for wine, especially his Italian varieties. Though some of the favourite wines of the night were Purple Hands Old Vine Grenache and the Mataro followed very closely by the Shiraz!

Anja joined Grace Farm's viticulturist Tim Quinlan and winemaker Jonathan Mettam for an exquisite Grace Farm degustation dining experience  at Petite Mort. The menu was created by head chef Todd Stuart matching current and back vintages from Grace Farm's boutique wine portfolio. Check out what Casey wrote about her dining experience here. Style by Wesson is an exclusive style and couture service for women who have most things but time. Wesson preview events are held twice a year in Melbourne, Sydney, Canberra and Perth showing next seasons fashions from some of the worlds top labels, straight from Europe.   Canny Grapes joined Look Good 2 Feel Good consultant Monique Leahy from the Wesson team with a Sparkling and Champagne tasting at their Learn and Cocktail styling workshop.
